Single-core end-emitting fibre cables have a single core insulated in a black UV-protected sheath. The fibre core is made of PMMA (PolyMethylMethAcrylate) and transmits cold light from the illuminator without electricity or heat in the fibre cable.

End-emitting fibres emit light only from their ends and are primarily used for the starry night sky effect and path lighting. Other forms of end-emitting lighting are in landscapes and artworks, such as sculptures benefiting from the flexibility and no electricity in the cable.

Depending on the application, the fibre cable ends can be left with a clean-cut finish or fitted with a fibre optic fitting. End fittings allow designers to produce different light beam angles and light diffusion effects through the fitting’s lens without the need for a powered LED fitting.
