Multi-Core Side-Emitting Strip Light Fibre Cable
Multi-core side-emitting strip light fibre cable is insulated in a clear UV-protected sheath. The fibre cores are made of PMMA (PolyMethylMethAcrylate) and transmit cold light from the illuminator with no electricity or heat in the fibre cable.
Side-emitting fibre cables emit light 360°, giving them a neon-type appearance ideal for signage, strip lighting, and suspended lighting features. LightEFX fibre optic strip lighting is chlorine and saltwater-resistant, making it perfect for pools, spas, steam rooms, and perimeter lighting along paths and driveways.

Side-Emitting Fibre Cable Questions
How is side-emitting fibre different from LED strip or neon flex?
LED strip and neon flex carry electricity along their full length. Side-emitting fibre carries light only, generated by a remote illuminator, so there is no power, no wiring, and no heat in the cable itself. That makes it usable in wet areas, submerged locations, and places where running electrical cable would be difficult or unsafe.
Can it be used in a swimming pool or spa?
Yes. The clear sheath is chlorine and saltwater resistant and UV protected. Because no electricity reaches the cable, it is well suited to pool perimeters, spas, steam rooms, and water features.
Which diameter should I choose?
The 4 mm cable suits fine detail work, edge lighting, and tight bends. The 13 mm and 18 mm options give a much thicker, brighter glowing line and read better over longer viewing distances, which suits pool perimeters, signage, and architectural features.
Can the cable be cut to length?
Yes. It is supplied cut to order in 1 metre increments with a 1 metre minimum, and can also be trimmed on site. Light is fed in from one end, so the cut end simply terminates the run.
Do I need an illuminator as well as the cable?
Yes. The cable transmits light but does not produce it, so every run needs a fibre optic illuminator feeding one end. Colour changing illuminators let the whole run shift colour without any change to the cable.
Can it be suspended across an open span?
Not on its own, as this cable has no structural core and will sag. For suspended runs use the wire tension version, which has an internal steel wire and spans up to 30 metres between fixing points.
